National Assembly discusses draft Law on Vietnam Border Guard
(Baonghean.vn) - Opinions of National Assembly deputies said that the Draft Law on Border Guards has ensured constitutionality, legality and consistency; demonstrating the position and importance of border guard tasks.
On the afternoon of October 21, under the chairmanship of Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Ba Ty, the National Assembly listened to Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on National Defense and Security Vo Trong Viet present a Report on explaining, receiving and revising the Draft Law on Vietnam Border Guard.

Accordingly, the Draft Law on Vietnam Border Guard was discussed and commented on by National Assembly deputies at the 9th session of the 14th National Assembly; the National Assembly Standing Committee commented at the 47th session.
The draft Law submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval at this session consists of 6 chapters and 36 articles, stipulating policies, principles, tasks, activities, forces, guarantees and responsibilities of agencies, organizations and individuals regarding border protection.
The contents of the draft Law continue to seek opinionsNational Assemblyat the 10th session, including: Name, concept of "Border Guard" and scope of regulation of the draft Law; State policy on border guard; border guard tasks; forces performing border guard tasks; prohibited acts; all-people border guard foundation, all-people border guard posture; coordination in performing border guard tasks; international cooperation on border guard.
Position and functions of the Border Guard; tasks of the Border Guard; powers of the Border Guard; forms of border management and protection; measures for border management and protection; equipment of the Border Guard; border security and border regimes and policies; layout of the draft Law; responsibilities of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, People's Councils, People's Committees at all levels, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, etc.

Discussing at the meeting, the delegates said that: This draft law has ensured constitutionality, legality and consistency; demonstrated the position and importance of the Border Guard task and affirmed the function of the Border Guard as the core, specialized force in managing and protecting the national border; maintaining social order and safety in border areas and border gates.
