The National Assembly discusses the draft Law on Vietnam's Border Guard.
(Baonghean.vn) - Members of the National Assembly believe that the draft Border Guard Law ensures constitutionality, legality, and consistency; and reflects the position and importance of border defense tasks.
On the afternoon of October 21st, under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Do Ba Ty, the National Assembly heard a report presented by Vo Trong Viet, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on National Defense and Security, explaining, receiving feedback, and revising the Draft Law on Vietnam's Border Guard.

Accordingly, the draft Law on Vietnam's Border Guard was discussed and commented on by National Assembly deputies at the 9th session of the 14th National Assembly; and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly commented on it at its 47th session.
The draft law submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval at this session consists of 6 chapters and 36 articles, stipulating policies, principles, tasks, activities, forces, guarantees, and responsibilities of agencies, organizations, and individuals regarding border defense.
The contents of the draft law are still open for further comments.National AssemblyAt the 10th session, the following topics were discussed: the name and concept of "Border Guard" and the scope of application of the draft Law; the State's policy on border guard; border guard tasks; forces implementing border guard tasks; prohibited acts; the all-people border guard system and all-people border guard posture; coordination in implementing border guard tasks; and international cooperation on border guard.
The draft law covers the position and functions of the Border Guard; the tasks of the Border Guard; the powers of the Border Guard; forms of border management and protection; measures for border management and protection; equipment of the Border Guard; border security and policies; the structure of the draft law; and the responsibilities of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, the People's Councils, the People's Committees at all levels, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

During the session, delegates commented that the draft law ensures constitutionality, legality, and consistency; it reflects the position and importance of border defense tasks and affirms the function of the Border Guard as the core, specialized force in managing and protecting national borders; and maintaining social order and safety in border areas and border gates.

There is strong agreement with the title of the draft Law, which is "Vietnam Border Guard LawHowever, to make the draft Law more complete, the National Assembly delegation of Nghe An province proposed adding several provisions regarding the responsibilities of the Ministry of Justice on border defense in areas such as civil registration, judicial assistance, and legal education and dissemination...
