Quy Chau: 22 bamboo rats released back into the forest.

(Baonghean.vn) - Late in the afternoon of March 28, the Quy Chau Forest Protection Department released 22 bamboo rats back into their natural habitat.

These are the bamboo rats that were discovered and seized by traffic police of Quy Chau district when Lu Van Muoi, residing in Lam village, Tri Le commune (Que Phong district), was transporting them for sale on March 26, 2017.

After being seized, the 40 bamboo rats were handed over to the Quy Chau District Forest Management Unit for handling. Health checks revealed that 22 individuals were in normal health, while 18 were weak, with some already dead. The 22 healthy bamboo rats were safely released by the district's forest rangers into the Bu Xen forest in sub-area 199, Chau Hanh commune, Quy Chau district. This area also has suitable environmental and natural conditions.

Releasing wild animals back into their natural environment aims to conserve biodiversity, protect and develop forests, and preserve wildlife.
