Regulations on the use of headlights when participating in road traffic.
Ms. Tran Thanh Ha, residing in Tan Ky district, asks: During what hours must drivers turn on their headlights? And in what situations must drivers turn off their high beams and turn on their low beams?
Reply:
Article 20The 2024 Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety regulates the use of lights.as follows:
1. Drivers of vehicles and specialized motorized vehicles participating in road traffic must turn on their headlights during the period from 6 PM the previous day to 6 AM the following day, or when there is fog, smoke, dust, rain, or bad weather that restricts visibility.

2. Drivers of vehicles and specialized motorized vehicles must turn off high beam headlights and turn on low beam headlights in the following cases:
a) When encountering pedestrians crossing the road;
b) When traveling on roads through densely populated areas where the street lighting system is operational;
c) When encountering oncoming vehicles, except in cases where the median strip has anti-glare properties;
d) When changing lanes at an intersection.
3. Drivers and operators of specialized motor vehicles must turn on their yellow warning lights when performing work on public roads.
