Regulations on the use of lighting when participating in road traffic
Ms. Tran Thanh Ha, resident of Tan Ky district, asked: At what time must drivers turn on their headlights? And in what cases must drivers turn off their high beams and turn on their low beams?

Article 20The Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024 regulates the use of lights.as follows:
1. Drivers and operators of specialized motorbikes participating in road traffic must turn on their front lights from 6:00 p.m. the previous day to 6:00 a.m. the following day or when there is fog, smoke, dust, rain, or bad weather that limits visibility.

2. Drivers and operators of specialized motorbikes must turn off high beams and turn on low beams in the following cases:
a) When meeting pedestrians crossing the street;
b) When traveling on roads through densely populated areas with operating lighting systems;
c) When encountering oncoming vehicles, except in cases where the median strip has anti-glare capabilities;
d) When changing direction at an intersection.
3. Drivers and operators of specialized motorbikes must turn on their yellow warning lights when working on the road.
