Quy Hop: Many dam projects are in disrepair.
(Baonghean.vn) - Quy Hop district currently has 199 large and small irrigation works being managed and exploited. However, many of them have degraded, causing great insecurity for dams during the rainy season.
Of the total 199 irrigation works in the district, there are 20 reservoirs, of which the reservoir with the largest capacity is Ban Muong reservoir, Chau Thai commune with a normal capacity of 3.5 million m3, flood storage capacity up to 5 million m3.

The remaining dams all have a capacity of less than 1 million m3such as Hai Khe Lake, Chau Dinh Commune; Tan Thang Lake, Dong Hop Commune; Tan Mung Lake, Tam Hop Commune; Ban Giang Lake, Chau Hong Commune... These projects not only provide irrigation water to ensure agricultural production in the area but also store water during the rainy season.
Most of the dams in the district have been put into operation and used for 30-40 years and are currently seriously degraded, especially the upgrading process mainly raised the dam crest without paying attention to dam slope filling, so the cross-section is small. If water is stored for a long time, it is very easy to have an accident, and the level of flood safety is poor.

Faced with the above situation, Quy Hop is building a roadmap to upgrade and reinforce dams; having flood and storm prevention plans for each dam to limit risks caused by natural disasters and floods./.
