Quy Hop: Many reservoir and dam structures are deteriorating.
(Baonghean.vn) - Quy Hop district currently has 199 large and small irrigation works under management and operation. However, many of these works have deteriorated, posing a significant safety risk to dams during the rainy season and floods.
Out of a total of 199 irrigation works in the district, there are 20 reservoirs, the largest of which is Ban Muong reservoir in Chau Thai commune, with a normal storage capacity of 3.5 million cubic meters.3, flood storage capacity up to 5 million m³3.

The remaining reservoirs all have a storage capacity of less than 1 million cubic meters.3Such as Hai Khe Lake in Chau Dinh commune; Tan Thang Lake in Dong Hop commune; Tan Mung Lake in Tam Hop commune; Ban Giang Lake in Chau Hong commune... These projects provide irrigation water to ensure agricultural production in the area, as well as storing water during the rainy season and floods.
Most of the reservoirs and dams in the district have been in operation for 30-40 years and are now severely degraded, especially since the upgrading process mainly focused on raising the dam crest without paying attention to reinforcing the dam slopes. As a result, the cross-section is small, making them very susceptible to failure if water is stored for a long time, and their flood protection safety is poor.

In response to this situation, Quy Hop district is developing a roadmap to upgrade and reinforce reservoirs and dams; and implementing flood and storm prevention plans for each reservoir and dam to minimize risks from natural disasters such as storms and floods.
