Nghe An's GRDP ranks 10th nationwide.
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the Nghe An Statistics Department, in 2022, despite facing many difficulties and challenges due to natural disasters and epidemics, Nghe An's economy still maintained a relatively high growth rate of 9.08%, ranking second in the North Central region and 22nd nationwide.

In terms of the scale of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth, with 175,740 billion VND, Nghe An has increased by 20,340 billion VND compared to 2021 (155,400 billion VND), maintaining its 10th position nationwide for the second consecutive year and rising from 3rd to 2nd place in the North Central region.

The provinces and cities ranking from first to tenth place are, respectively, Ho Chi Minh City (1,479,227 billion VND), Hanoi (1,195,989 billion VND), Binh Duong (459,032 billion VND), Dong Nai (434,990 billion VND), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (390,293 billion VND), Hai Phong (365,585 billion VND), Quang Ninh (269,244 billion VND), Thanh Hoa (252,672 billion VND), Bac Ninh (249,376 billion VND), and Nghe An (175,740 billion VND).

In 2022, Nghe An province's total state budget revenue reached VND 20,370 billion, exceeding the provincial People's Council's projected target by 35.65% and increasing by 1.89% compared to the same period in 2021. Of this, domestic revenue was estimated at VND 19,000 billion, exceeding the projected target by 38.72% and increasing by 3.60% compared to the same period. Revenue from import and export activities was estimated at VND 1,350 billion, exceeding the projected target by 3.85% and equaling 81.70% compared to the same period. Total local budget expenditure for the whole year of 2022 was estimated at VND 32,542.8 billion, reaching 104.77% of the projected target, of which expenditure on development investment was VND 10,739.1 billion, reaching 110.84% of the projected target.
According to the Nghe An Provincial Statistics Department, by 2021, the population of Nghe An was over 3.4 million people, mainly living in rural areas (84.5%), with a population density of 207 people/km².2.
Nghe An currently has an area of 16,490.25 km².2, the largest in the country, with 21 subordinate administrative units, including: 1 city, 3 towns and 17 districts. Of these,Vinh City is a type 1 urban area.The province is under the jurisdiction of the provincial government; it includes 3 towns: Cua Lo, Hoang Mai, and Thai Hoa; and 17 districts: Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh, Do Luong, Nghi Loc, Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan, Thanh Chuong, Tan Ky, Anh Son, Con Cuong, Nghia Dan, Quy Hop, Quy Chau, Que Phong, Tuong Duong, and Ky Son.
