Quynh Luu: Bringing traffic laws to the people.

(Baonghean) - In some rural and mountainous communes of Quynh Luu district, there are still instances of people violating traffic safety laws. In response to this situation, the Quynh Luu District Traffic Safety Committee has intensified efforts to disseminate traffic laws to the people.

Due to the remote location of rural and mountainous communes from the district center, traffic safety management remains limited. Furthermore, the public still lacks understanding of traffic laws, leading to an increase in violations. Through inspections and controls on National Highway 48B and inter-commune roads in rural and mountainous areas, the Quỳnh Lưu District Traffic Police Team has detected and handled numerous violations, mainly involving people not wearing helmets, driving without licenses, underage teenagers driving motorcycles recklessly, and encroaching on road lanes and sidewalks for commercial purposes.

According to the report from the District Traffic Safety Committee, since the beginning of the year, the Quỳnh Lưu District Police have fined more than 200 traffic safety violations in rural and mountainous areas. Of these, not wearing a helmet accounted for 70% of the cases; followed by violations such as driving without a license and carrying more passengers than allowed.

To help people living in rural and mountainous areas raise their awareness of traffic safety, the Traffic Safety Committee of Quynh Luu district has intensified the dissemination of traffic laws to communes and residents through various methods such as distributing leaflets and booklets, broadcasting messages via loudspeakers, and integrating them into meetings and conferences. Simultaneously, they have coordinated with relevant units to increase the creation of news reports, feature articles, and promotional clips, as well as thematic talks on traffic safety. They have also organized theatrical communication activities using short plays and quizzes to convey traffic laws to the people in the most understandable way.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong from Hamlet 5, Quynh Thang Commune, said: "Previously, due to limited understanding of traffic laws, my family had a habit of encroaching on the road to set up a stall. After being reminded and educated about traffic laws by the district police, my family has complied and restored the road and sidewalk to their original state."

The District Traffic Safety Committee also organized the signing of commitments with each household and local authorities regarding voluntary compliance with traffic safety regulations and cultured behavior when participating in traffic. In addition, the district police's traffic control force also strengthened inspection and control teams on roads in rural and mountainous areas, strictly handling encroachments on traffic safety, thereby contributing to raising people's awareness of traffic safety laws and reducing traffic accidents.
