Quynh Luu (Nghe An) has 2 more communes with African swine fever outbreaks
(Baonghean.vn) - The People's Committee of Quynh Luu district is carrying out procedures to issue a decision to announce two more outbreaks of African swine fever occurring in two coastal communes, Quynh Luong and Quynh Bang.
Previously, on May 20, Mr. Ho Nghia Trong's family in hamlet 5, Quynh Luong commune discovered another pig weighing 70kg being raised in the pen suddenly died.

Immediately after that, Mr. Trong reported to the local authorities; the veterinary staff of Quynh Luu district conducted an inspection, took samples of the pig to send for testing. On the morning of May 21, the results showed that the pig that died at Mr. Ho Nghia Trong's household tested positive for African swine fever.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tue - Chairman of Quynh Luong Commune People's Committee said: Immediately after the outbreak, on the morning of May 22, although the District People's Committee had not yet announced the outbreak in Quynh Luong Commune, the commune had implemented epidemic prevention measures. Currently, the commune has set up 3 checkpoints and purchased 2 tons of lime powder.
Mr. Ho Trong Hong - Head of Hamlet 5, Quynh Luong Commune also said that after the outbreak at Mr. Ho Nghia Trong's household, following the direction of the commune, the hamlet announced on loudspeakers to inform the villagers, and at the same time encouraged them to buy lime powder to sprinkle in the barn area. Currently, the whole hamlet has 70 households raising pigs, with a total of nearly 100 pigs.

Bordering Quynh Luong commune, on May 21, in Quynh Bang commune, another outbreak of African swine fever was discovered at Mr. Nguyen Van Son's household in Quyet Thang village. The dead pig that had to be destroyed weighed 96 kg.
According to statistics, in Quynh Bang and Quynh Luong communes, there are a total herd of more than 3,500 pigs, of which more than 3,000 are concentrated in Quynh Bang. After the outbreak of African swine fever, localities held steering committee meetings, assigned forces and set up 5 quarantine checkpoints.
In the immediate future, these communes will use the amount of chemicals provided by the district, 20 liters per locality, to spray disinfectants, and proactively buy lime powder to sprinkle in epidemic and threatened areas.

Mr. Dau Duc Nam - Head of the Department of Agriculture of Quynh Luu district said: "Although the district has not announced the epidemic, it has directed localities to implement solutions to prevent and control the epidemic: Destroy pigs, set up checkpoints, spray disinfectants, ban slaughtering and transporting pigs in and out of epidemic areas" - Mr. Nam said.
On the afternoon of May 22, the District People's Committee held an urgent meeting with chairmen and veterinary officers of communes and towns in the district to strengthen the prevention and control of African swine fever.
Thus, after Quynh Luu district re-announced African swine fever in Quynh My and Quynh Hung communes, up to now, the district has had 3 new outbreaks in 3 communes: Son Hai, Quynh Luong and Quynh Bang.
