Quynh Luu: Heartbreaking story of a single mother suffering from a serious illness.
(Baonghean.vn) - Ms. Ho Thi Toan and her son are living through difficult times as Ms. Toan's Parkinson's disease has progressed to its final stage...
Through a teacher's introduction, we found our way to the home of Ms. Ho Thi Toan, residing in Hamlet 4, Quynh Hong Commune, Quynh Luu District. Upon entering the house, we encountered Ms. Toan, thin and pale, writhing in pain on a hammock. Her son, Ho Duc Tam (15 years old), with teary eyes, was massaging his mother's hands and feet while explaining her condition to us.

"Five years ago, my mother started showing signs of the disease such as tremors in her hands and feet, occasional muscle spasms, slow movements, and great difficulty with daily activities. Due to our difficult family circumstances, she didn't go to the hospital for examination and treatment."
"By 2014, her condition worsened, and relatives took her to a hospital in Hanoi for examination. The doctor said her mother's illness had reached the terminal stage and was very difficult to treat. In the winter, her hands and feet would become stiff, making it very difficult for her to turn over in bed, so many nights I had to stay up all night massaging her." At this point, Tam hugged her mother tightly and sobbed uncontrollably.
At over 40 years old, Ms. Toan gave birth to her son, Ho Duc Tam. The two of them live together in a dilapidated house only about 10 square meters in size. There are no valuable possessions in the house, and now Ms. Toan herself is ill and unable to move, leaving the family with no source of income. Even the daily necessities like medicine and food are difficult to come by, so where will they find the money for Tam's education?

Therefore, Ho Duc Tam was forced to drop out of school to stay home and take care of his mother. Every day, in addition to bathing, feeding, and cleaning his mother, he also has to constantly be by her side to massage her hands and feet to help alleviate her pain.
Mr. Ho Huu Tung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Hong commune (Quynh Luu district), said: "Ms. Toan's family is in an extremely difficult situation in the commune. She herself is unable to work and earn an income, suffers from a serious illness, and her son is still young. The local authorities have shown great concern, but the assistance is limited. Therefore, we sincerely hope to receive help and support from philanthropists so that Ms. Toan and her son can have a less difficult life."
