(Baonghean.vn) - Buddhist communities in Quynh Luu and Yen Thanh districts organized the Great Buddha's Birthday Celebration for the Buddhist year 2561 - Gregorian year 2017.

* On the morning of May 7th, at Lam Son Pagoda in Quynh Yen commune, the Buddhist community of Quynh Luu district organized the Great Buddha's Birthday Celebration 2017, Buddhist calendar 2561 - Gregorian calendar 2017.

At the Grand Ceremony, Venerable Thich Dinh Tue - Head of the International Buddhist Affairs Committee, Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province - read the Buddha's Birthday message for the year 2561 of the Buddhist calendar from the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

This emphasizes that, with the tradition of protecting the nation and ensuring the well-being of the people, and accompanying the nation, every monk, nun, Buddhist follower, and member organization of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha must enhance their responsibility and fulfill their duties in the spirit of: Wisdom - Discipline - Integration - Development, contributing to the continuous growth of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha so that the Sangha can fulfill its mission in the context of our country's ongoing reform process and the trend of deep integration and international cooperation of the era.

Over the years, Buddhism in Quynh Luu district has actively participated in social welfare work, humanitarian and charitable activities, and patriotic emulation movements, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

To spread the wisdom and virtuous teachings of Buddhism to the people and Buddhist followers; to build national unity and religious harmony; to implement the motto of living a "good life and a beautiful faith"; and to contribute to building an increasingly prosperous and beautiful homeland.

Also at the ceremony, representatives of the Buddhist association of Quynh Luu district presented 31 gifts to poor but studious students and blind people in Quynh Yen commune, with a total value of 20 million VND.

Celebrating this year's Buddha's Birthday is an opportunity for the Buddhist community of Yen Thanh district to reflect on the beautiful teachings of the Buddha, thereby promoting the tradition of "protecting the nation and ensuring the people's well-being" of Vietnamese Buddhism; strengthening solidarity with other religions, returning to the roots of the nation, and spreading the patriotic emulation movement, joining hands with the Party Committee, government, and people of the district to build a more prosperous and civilized homeland.

On the occasion of the 2017 Buddha's Birthday celebration, Chi Linh Pagoda donated a house of compassion for the poor to the Fatherland Front Committee of Xuan Thanh commune, worth 30 million VND.
