A woman was struck by lightning and died while leading her cows home from the rain.
(Baonghean.vn) - A woman living in Yen Thanh district was leading her cows back to the barn to avoid a thunderstorm when she was suddenly struck by lightning, resulting in both her and the cow's death.
On May 12, the People's Committee of Quang Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, reported: At around 5:20 p.m. on May 11, Ms. Dang Thi Ng. (born in 1972), residing in Quang Thanh commune, saw that a thunderstorm was about to occur, so she went to the field in front of her house to take her cows back to the barn to avoid the rain, but was unfortunately struck by lightning.
At around 6pm the same day, the rain stopped but Ms. Ng. still had not returned home with her cow. Sensing something was wrong, Ms. Ng.'s relatives immediately ran to the field and discovered the victim had died and next to her was a cow that had also been struck dead by lightning.
After the incident, local authorities visited and expressed condolences to the family of the unfortunate person.
