Today is the 29th day of Tet, but Mr. Phan Dinh Hai in Hamlet 9, Thanh Hung Commune, Thanh Chuong District is busy transporting rice seedlings in trays for the spring rice planting. Mr. Hai said that this season, he has cooperated with Thanh Lien Agricultural Cooperative to make rice seedlings in trays and organize machine planting. Although Tet is near, he and his fellow villagers are still trying to plant rice in time for the season. After January, they still have to focus on harvesting corn, potatoes and planting vegetables.

Like Mr. Hai and many people in Thanh Hung and Thanh Lien communes, people in localities with low-lying land or far from irrigation water sources are also taking advantage of planting rice, earlier than the general schedule of the district. Planting early to avoid small-season floods, planting early because there is a natural water source. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh - a resident of Lien Chung village, Phong Thinh commune happily said: "I have planted 3 sao of 10 meters, and today I have planted 3 sao, only 10 meters left. I am taking advantage of planting rice, tomorrow morning, the 30th of Tet, I will go to the market...".

However, in many areas, people still have to plant manually.

According to the project, in the spring crop of 2017, Thanh Chuong district will plant 14,500 hectares, including 8,200 hectares of rice with the main varieties being Kinh So Uu 1588, Huong Uu 98 and 27P31. From January 10, rice seedlings were sown en masse, 100% of the area was covered with plastic. According to the schedule, rice planting will start on January 6. However, due to favorable weather in some remote areas, people have already gone to the fields to plant. According to initial statistics, by January 26 (ie 29th of Tet), Thanh Phong, Thanh Hoa and Phong Thinh communes have planted 50% of the area, the whole district has planted about 700 hectares.

Mr. Le Dinh Thanh P. Chairman of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee said: "This year, the district issued and implemented the project early and organized the implementation vigorously from the beginning, so most of the seeds and fertilizers were supplied according to the instructions, basically there were no illegal seeds. Some localities went to the fields earlier than the general schedule because they had to avoid floods for the next crop or people saved natural water resources. The weather is favorable, warm and sunny, so it will not affect the rice plants."

Tet has come, time is very limited but many people in Thanh Chuong district still go to the fields to produce with high determination and hope for a bumper crop.
