Launch of a handbook on protecting children on the Internet
The handbook on child protection on the Internet is an important part of the implementation of the Program "Protecting and supporting children to interact healthily and creatively in the online environment for the period 2021-2025," approved under Decision No. 830/QD-TTg dated June 1, 2021 of the Government.
Nowadays, the internet and cyberspace have become an indispensable part of life, especially for children - who use technology for daily learning and entertainment. According to a report from the General Statistics Office, by the end of 2023, Vietnam's population will reach about 100.3 million people, of which children account for nearly 1/4 and 2/3 of this number can use internet-connected devices.

The new edition of the guide focuses on identifying online risks for children and provides practical tools and solutions. It is a resource to support both children and parents in protecting themselves from potential dangers and towards safe internet use.
Contents of the handbook
The handbook is compiled with 5 main parts:
General guide:An introduction to the internet, its benefits and risks for children, and how to report inappropriate content.
Handbook for children under 6 years old:Guide for parents and teachers to protect children in the early stages of accessing the internet.
Handbook for children from 6 to 11 years old:Provides principles to help children develop basic digital skills, and guides parents in supporting their children.
Handbook for children from 11 to 16 years old:Share ways for children to use the internet safely, healthily and responsibly.
Support tools:List of content control software and tools for parents and teachers.
Recommended use
This handbook is an important document that helps parents, teachers, and caregivers equip themselves with the knowledge and skills needed to guide children in using the internet safely. Proper application will minimize the negative impacts of the online environment and help children become more confident when participating in the digital world.
