Launching the Thanh Xuan Folk Song Club (Thanh Chuong) in Southern Vietnam.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of March 25th, in Di An town, Binh Duong province, the Nghe An Hometown Association launched the Thanh Xuan Folk Song Club.

The Thanh Xuan Folk Song Club consists of people who have left their hometown, mainly from Thanh Xuan commune, Thanh Chuong district. After a period of gathering members and activities, the Thanh Xuan Folk Song Club was officially established by Decision No. 42/QD-PVHTT of the Department of Culture and Information, Di An town, Binh Duong province.

At the launch ceremony, representatives of the local government read and presented the establishment decision to the Club's Chairman. Accordingly, the Thanh Xuan Folk Song Club was established to promote, encourage, organize, and guide people with a shared interest in folk singing to participate in training and performances, thereby boosting the folk singing movement in the area.

The Thanh Xuan Folk Song Club has 25 members, aged from 7 to 52. They work in various professions (workers, merchants, drivers, students, etc.) but all share a common passion for singing folk songs, especially the Ví and Giặm folk songs.

The club meets once a week on Sundays at 324 Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Thong Nhat 1 Quarter, Di An Ward, Di An Town, Binh Duong Province.

The establishment of the Thanh Xuan Folk Song Club is a source of pride for people from Nghe An province living in the South. The club has received attention, support, and assistance from many people, as well as from the Nghe Tinh Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Khanh – the founder of the club – said: “To date, people from Nghe An province living in the South have established two folk song clubs. The activities of these clubs will contribute to spreading the Vi Giam folk songs further in the South, bringing them closer to workers, students, and local people from Nghe An living far from home.”
