The 2018 Mercedes GLA comes in three versions, with power ranging from 208 to 375 horsepower. Notably, the engine in the GLA45 AMG is the world's most powerful 2.0-liter engine.
| The updated version of the GLA, unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, includes three variants: the GLA250, GLA 250 4Matic, and GLA45 AMG. It is the smallest model in the Mercedes-Benz SUV family. |
| Although not as exciting as the AMG GT, the GLC-Class compact crossover is of particular interest to many fans of the three-pointed star brand. |
| Information about the new generation GLA leaked a few weeks ago. The 2018 version has been completely redesigned. While the grille retains its sporty style, the large three-pointed star is now positioned in the center. |
| The front bumper and ends have been redesigned. The hood is more rugged and muscular. The fog lights have been moved to the upper corners on the standard version, while the GLA 45's front bumper lacks fog lights to accommodate the large air intakes. The air intakes at the front feature vertical slats to direct airflow directly to the high-performance brakes for cooling. |
| The rear section also features an additional wing mounted on top to improve aerodynamics. |
LED headlights are available on the GLA 250 version but are replaced with bi-xenon headlights on the 45 AMG version. |
Inside, Mercedes designed the GLA to feel more upscale, with numerous chrome accents throughout the cabin and some trim lines. The instrument cluster has also been redesigned. |
The GLA45 AMG features contrasting trim on the seats and dashboard. An 8-inch central display is standard on all versions. The infotainment system includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. |
A rearview camera is also standard equipment; however, users can purchase an optional 360-degree view, which includes an overhead view to make parking easier. The hands-free system in the rear allows users to open the trunk by simply raising their foot, so there's no need to worry when loading luggage. |
The powertrain remains the same for both versions. The GLA250 is equipped with a 208-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive, and 4Matic is an optional extra. The GLA45 AMG still uses the same 375-horsepower and 474 Nm of torque engine as the current version. This is the world's most powerful 2.0-liter engine and remains unrivaled. The AMG version uses the 4Matic system; there is no front-wheel drive option. |
| Customers can opt for the AMG Performance Studio package, which features gold accents inside and out, including the air vents and floor mats. This package also includes a rear spoiler. Prices for all three versions have not yet been announced, but are expected to be not significantly higher than the current model. The car will go on sale from summer 2017. |
