Launching the Northern Central Forensic Psychiatry Branch
(Baonghean.vn) - The establishment of this branch institute will help improve forensic psychiatric assessment in Nghe An province in particular and the North Central provinces in general.
On the morning of July 16th, the Ministry of Health held a ceremony to launch the Northern Central Forensic Psychiatry Branch of the Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry. Attending the ceremony were: Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien - Minister of Health; Mr. Nguyen Viet Tien - Permanent Deputy Minister of Health; and leaders of departments, divisions, and institutes under the Ministry of Health.
Representing Nghe An province were: Mr. Thai Thanh Quy - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and representatives from the leadership of various departments, agencies, and health units in the province.

The sub-institute is responsible for conducting forensic psychiatric examinations in the three provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh; and providing compulsory treatment for psychiatric patients within its assigned area. The planned bed capacity for the sub-institute in 2019 and 2020 is 50 beds.
