Intensive campaign launched to crack down on crime and ensure security during Tet 2026.
On the morning of December 12th, at Ho Chi Minh Square, the Nghe An Provincial Police organized a ceremony to launch a high-intensity campaign to attack and suppress all types of crime; simultaneously, similar ceremonies were held in 130 communes and wards throughout the province. The campaign will run from 8:00 AM on December 12th, 2025 to March 16th, 2026.
Attending the launching ceremony were Comrade Bui Thanh An - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the leadership of a number of provincial departments, agencies, and organizations; and the wards of Truong Vinh, Thanh Vinh, Vinh Phu, Vinh Hung, and Vinh Loc.
Comrade Major General Dinh Viet Dung - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Director of the Provincial Police Department - presided over the ceremony.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Comrade Bui Thanh An - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - acknowledged and highly appreciated the close and decisive leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Police leadership in ensuring security and order in the province over the past period and the early organization of the launching ceremony to attack and suppress crime. This is a crucial peak period of crime attack and suppression; it takes place before many important events of the country and the nation.
Therefore, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that the Provincial Police force, playing a core role, effectively advise the Party Committee and government at all levels and coordinate well with functional agencies and mass organizations to comprehensively and decisively implement many solutions to effectively carry out this peak period.
According to the plan, immediately after the launching ceremony, the heads of police units and localities will direct the maximum concentration of forces, proactively monitor the situation, advise on effective solutions, maintain national security, and resolutely and uncompromisingly combat violations affecting public order and security and crime, especially the types of crime that tend to increase during the Tet holiday.
In particular, focus on preventing and vigorously combating dangerous criminal offenses and high-tech crimes (especially fraud and online gambling), resolutely preventing criminals from running rampant and ensuring that no serious crimes occur during the Lunar New Year and other key national events.
Alongside launching a vigorous offensive and crackdown on crime, the forces continue to proactively and effectively monitor, assess, and forecast the situation, promptly advising and comprehensively directing numerous solutions in all aspects of ensuring security and order, avoiding negligence, complacency, and passivity. In particular, they will focus intensely on ensuring traffic safety and fire prevention, absolutely preventing any particularly serious traffic accidents, fires, or explosions causing significant loss of life and property before, during, and after the Lunar New Year.
In addition, focus on directing and implementing seriously and effectively the peak period of armed patrols to prevent and combat crime according to Plan No. 1001 dated December 1, 2025, of the Provincial Police. Detect and strictly handle key individuals, those possessing weapons, explosives, support tools, illegal fireworks, engaging in robbery and theft, and young people driving recklessly, speeding, and causing public disorder...
Immediately after the launching ceremony, the Provincial Police organized a parade and demonstration of force; conducted mobile propaganda on main roads, calling on the people to participate in and support the intensified campaign. On the same day, the police in all communes and wards throughout the province simultaneously held launching ceremonies to attack and suppress crime.
