Appearing in Nghe An since 2007, 2008, rap has conquered a large number of young people. The Vietnamese rap map has recorded the marks of Nghe rap such as the song "Thuong lam mien Trung" written about the life of the people in the Central region struggling against storms by MagicTK and Loi Emo... However, it was not until October 2015 that the Nghe rap community gradually grew stronger when the Rap37 group appeared so that people who love this type of music can exchange information and perform their own raps.
Usually every Saturday and Sunday night, at sidewalk cafes or coffee shops, young people dressed in a rather “stylish” way sit together to perform or have spontaneous small competitions on electronic music. On the not-too-loud music, the lyrics are not sentimental, rhyming, the free-spirited ego of youth combined with dance moves makes many listeners around quite impressed and excited.

With 20-30 self-composed works, Mai Xuan Trung, often known by his stage name Bonz, one of the famous rappers in the Rap community, co-founded the Rap37 group. He said that currently, the rap community in Nghe An has about 200-300 members. The members of the group are mainly students and also working people. Usually, the members of the group often compose on 3 main topics: thoughts, self-ego, love and life.
Not everyone can become a rapper, because it requires both talent and sometimes patience in the face of unfriendly looks from many people.

Ngoc Minh, a female member of Rap37, said that when she first learned to rap, her parents did not like her to follow this genre of music. Because in the eyes of parents, this is a type of street music, rebellious. Especially for a girl like Minh, who sometimes mumbles nonsense words to herself or screams “oh, yeah”… . To explain and prove her passion to her parents, it took her a lot of time.
It is an undeniable fact that nowadays, rap is not considered a real art form and is “discriminated” by many people. There are many reasons given, but mainly because the lyrics in rap songs are often quite “rough” when containing a lot of street language, expressing the strong thoughts of young people. Not to mention the types of “dirty rap” containing obscene content, denying the good things around or promoting loose, hasty lifestyles, making many people, especially the elderly, not very fond of this music genre.
Because of this, the founders of Rap37 want to create a healthy playground for the rap lover community in Vinh city in particular and Nghe An in general, both to rebuild the rap movement in Nghe An as well as push back negative aspects, helping rap become an interesting music genre, bringing many new spiritual values to listeners.
Rap is an art form in Hip hop music that originated and developed in poor and black neighborhoods in America. Rap can be considered as a type of music that helps people living at the bottom denounce the injustice and racism in America at that time. Unlike other music genres, rap has its own unique characteristics in which rappers demonstrate their skillful use of words (wordplay, double rhymes, double rhymes...) to express their own style. Rappers perform raps by reading or shouting the lyrics, rhyming words, combined with dancing and posing to increase expressiveness. The language in rap music is very liberal and not limited to any limits, so swearing in rap music is normal. Thanks to the vibrant melody, fast tempo, and ability to express one's own ego, this is a genre that is loved by many young people. |
