There are "tiny" vegetables that cost 10 times more than regular ones, but are still sought after by many people to make dishes for the Lunar New Year.

As a foodie, Ms. Thanh in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City said that she often visits clean food stores to buy tiny vegetables and fruits. Especially this Tet, these vegetables and fruits are the items she searched for and ordered very early.

"Usually I buy carrots and miniature cucumbers at clean food stores in District 7, but the quantity is not much. If I buy late, they will be sold out. Therefore, this Tet, I ordered from gardens in Da Lat even though the price is high," said Ms. Thanh.

Also interested in miniature vegetables, Ms. Hang in District 2 said she is looking to buy wild bitter melon, carrots, beets, and miniature cucumbers to order for Tet. These products are currently priced at 50,000 - 300,000 VND per kilogram. As for cabbage sprouts (miniature cabbage), she has to order them in Hanoi because this product is hand-carried by stores abroad and cannot be grown in Vietnam.

As a person who specializes in hand-carrying French cabbage to Vietnam, Ms. Hoa in Cau Giay (Hanoi) said that she has received 100 Tet orders for this product. By the end of December 20 of the lunar calendar, she will not accept any more orders because the quantity of hand-carrying goods is limited. The miniature cabbage has the scientific name of Brussels sprouts, and looks quite similar to regular Vietnamese cabbage, but the size of a sprout is only about the size of a lemon, with a diameter of about 2-4 cm. French cabbage sprouts are packaged and sold in 400g and 2,500g bags, with about 50-60 heads per kg.

Tiny fish carrots are quite cheap.

Also stating that the number of tiny vegetables attracting customers during Tet, the manager of a clean food store in District 7 said that carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers... are being ordered in quantities 3 times higher than usual, even though the price is twice as high as that of large-sized products. Among the above products, tiny carrots are the best-selling item in recent times and cost 50,000 - 60,000 VND per kilogram. This type of root is as small as a thumb but sweeter and crispier than large carrots. This type only needs to be washed and can be processed without peeling or chopping.
