Resident Evil Veronica is scheduled for release in 2027 on PS5, Xbox, and Switch 2.
Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Veronica will be released in 2027. The remake uses the RE Engine, removes the fixed-view perspective, and offers full support for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Capcom has officially confirmed that the Resident Evil Veronica project (a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica) will be released globally in 2027. This information was announced by Executive Producers Jun Takeuchi and Geoff Keighley, marking a significant strategic step for the company in revitalizing classic game franchises.
Change strategy and new identity
Notably, Capcom decided to remove the word "Code" from the original title, changing it to Resident Evil Veronica. According to producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, this change was intended to emphasize that the project was being prioritized for development as a core numbered entry, rather than just a spin-off.

Technical improvements: Third-person perspective and RE Engine
The biggest technical change is the removal of the fixed-camera system from the 2000 version. Instead, Resident Evil Veronica will use an over-the-shoulder third-person perspective, built on the architecture of the successful Resident Evil 2 remake.
Although the trailer features some first-person shots, Mr. Hirabayashi asserts that this is merely a cinematic element for marketing purposes. In the actual gameplay experience, players will use a completely third-person perspective. Regarding combat mechanics, internal test reports suggest that Claire Redfield may utilize a quick dodge skill instead of the knife-parry mechanism seen in Resident Evil 4.
Platform support and performance on Nintendo Switch 2
The game is in development for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo's next-generation console, the Switch 2. Below are the expected specifications and confirmed features:
| Foundation | Confirmation/Expected features |
|---|---|
| PS5 / Xbox Series X / PC | Expected 4K, 60fps, Ray Tracing |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Supports HDR, Amiibo integrated. |
| Core technology | Re Engine |
Although the resolution and frame rate specifications on current console systems are still being optimized, data from the Nintendo eShop Japan has confirmed that the Switch 2 version will support High Dynamic Range (HDR) and physical integration with Amiibo.

Currently, the listed price on some retail sites like Play-Asia is quite low (around $14.15), however, experts predict this is only a temporary figure and the official price upon release could be around $69.99 for a AAA blockbuster.
