Rihanna honored at Michael Jackson awards
Rihanna will receive a lifetime achievement award from the Video Music Awards (VMA) organizers at an event taking place on August 28.
The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award is the highest honor an artist can receive in the music video industry. It reflects not only an artist's impact on music, but also pop culture, fashion, film, and philanthropy.

Rihanna, 28, has won two MTV Video of the Year awards and eight Grammys. She has sold more than 61 million albums in her career. The Umbrella star is also the founder of the Clara Lionel Foundation, which works to improve health and cultural services in her native Barbados and beyond.
Rihanna will perform at the ceremony in New York, where she is nominated for four VMAs for her songs Work (featuring Canadian rapper Drake) and This is What You Came For (featuring Calvin Harris).
Rapper Kanye West won the Vanguard Award in 2015. Other artists who have been honored with the award include Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.
