Leaked Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3: New squircle design and expected connectivity upgrades.
The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 has been revealed with a completely new squircle design, integrating a smart home control button, UWB technology, and IP67/IP68 water resistance rating.
Samsung is preparing to launch a new generation of location tracking accessories called the Galaxy SmartTag 3. The device promises a complete overhaul of its design language, deep integration into the Samsung Find ecosystem, and advanced wireless connectivity standards to improve the ability to locate lost items.
The new squircle design is in line with the Samsung ecosystem.
In its third generation, Samsung switched to a squircle design for the Galaxy SmartTag 3. This design language creates a clear alignment with the One UI user interface and other smartwatches like the Galaxy Watch 9. Previously, the first Galaxy SmartTag had a basic square design with rounded corners, while the second generation used an elongated pill shape.
However, the new design of the Galaxy SmartTag 3 does not include a lanyard hole on the device itself. This change forces users to purchase additional accessories such as protective cases or specialized keychains if they want to attach the device to keys, backpacks, or other personal items.
Intelligent control features and connectivity infrastructure
In terms of interaction, the device continues to maintain a physical button located in the center. A single press allows users to quickly find the connected phone. Meanwhile, a double press will activate automation settings through the Modes & Routines feature in the smart home ecosystem.
In addition, the Galaxy SmartTag 3 is expected to support ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning technology, Bluetooth connectivity (expected to be upgraded to Bluetooth 6.0 for optimal accuracy), and IP67 or IP68 water and dust resistance. This accessory is predicted to launch at the same time as the Galaxy S26 FE and the Galaxy Tab S12 tablet series before the end of this year.
