Roborock Saros 10 Series: Which model should you choose when they're all the same price?

CTVXOctober 26, 2025 07:48

Roborock's Saros 10 series offers two robotic vacuum cleaners at the same price point but differing in technology: one focuses on intelligent navigation, the other specializes in deep cleaning.

Ultra-slim design: The solution for tight spaces.

Roborock, one of the leading brands in robotic vacuum cleaners, has introduced its new Saros 10 series with two versions: Saros 10 and Saros 10R. The core difference of this series lies in its slimmer design, allowing the robot to easily clean low-lying areas that previous models struggled to reach.

Both models stand just 7.98 cm (3.14 inches) tall, achieved through two clever engineering solutions. The Saros 10 uses a retractable laser sensor array on its roof. When the robot approaches a low object, it automatically lowers the sensor to pass through. Meanwhile, the Saros 10R completely eliminates the roof sensor array and replaces it with a new, more streamlined "StarSight" navigation system.

The two robot vacuum cleaner models, Roborock Saros 10 and Saros 10R, share an automatic charging station.

Despite their height advantage, both robots sometimes struggle to operate under low furniture like sofas. They can get under them but often get stuck in areas with less clearance. However, the Roborock app has a feature that identifies common areas where the robots get stuck and suggests users create no-go zones, a valuable improvement.

Saros 10R and Saros 10: Differences in cleaning technology.

Despite sharing a common design platform, the two versions offer distinctly different cleaning capabilities, catering to the varying needs and preferences of users.

Saros 10R: Intelligent navigation and dual-rotating mopping

The Saros 10R is equipped with a more advanced "StarSight" navigation system, giving the robot superior obstacle avoidance capabilities. This model can easily dodge cables, small pieces of plastic, and other obstructions that often trouble other robots. For mopping, the Saros 10R uses two dual rotating mop bases mounted on a "FlexArm" mechanism. This design allows the mop base to extend to clean tight corners and along baseboards, providing better coverage.

Saros 10: 'Sonic' vibrating mop and flexible brush

In contrast, the Saros 10 focuses on deep cleaning power. This robot uses "Sonic" vibrating mop technology with a high-frequency vibrating mop pad to scrub away stubborn stains like dried mud or spills. Additionally, the Saros 10 has a side mop for cleaning corners and edges. A highlight of the Saros 10 is that its main brush is also equipped with a "FlexArm" mechanism, which helps collect dust and debris in corners more effectively.

General features and automatic charging stations

Both models share many advanced technologies. The DuoDivide main brush is designed to effectively prevent tangling of hair. They also have the ability to automatically raise the mop base when passing over carpets or detach completely and leave it at the charging station. Another impressive feature is the ability to raise the entire chassis up to 1.57 inches, allowing the robot to easily overcome door sills or obstacles.

The included charging station features automatic waste disposal, mop washing and drying, automatic clean water refilling, and floor cleaning solution mixing. The charging station's design has also been improved for ease of operation, such as the Saros 10R's dirty water tank being exposed for convenient emptying.

Which option is right for you?

Choosing between the Saros 10 and Saros 10R really depends on personal preference, especially since both are priced at $1,599. If you need a deep-cleaning device capable of scrubbing away stubborn stains and effectively sweeping dust in corners, the Saros 10 is the better choice. Conversely, if you prioritize convenience and want a robot with excellent autonomous capabilities and obstacle avoidance so you can "set it up and forget it," the Saros 10R would be a more suitable option.
