Russian media reported that at 11:30 local time on April 11, the crisis management center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations received information about a plane crash in Khabarovsk, in Russia's Far East.SputnikThe helicopter involved in the accident was a Mi-8. According to initial reports, there were six people on board at the time of the malfunction. Ground structures were not affected by the accident.
A spokesperson for the Russian Investigative Committee toldSputnikthat investigators are examining the scene and identifying the victims.
"The helicopter crashed on Antennaya Road. According to initial investigations, all six people on board have died," the local emergency services announced.
According toRTThe helicopter involved in the accident was a civilian helicopter belonging to Vostok, a local airline in the Far East region. It was on a training flight when the accident occurred. The helicopter crashed in an uninhabited area of Khabarovsk city.
A video posted by an Instagram user shows plumes of black smoke rising from the crash site where the helicopter went down.
The fire caused by the helicopter crash has been extinguished and the scene has been cordoned off for investigation.TASSApproximately 170 people, including firefighters, rescue teams, and doctors, along with 50 vehicles, arrived at the scene to participate in the rescue effort.
