Over the past few weeks, the press has been rife with speculation about Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Bernabeu. Amid rumors of a possible move to PSG or a return to Old Trafford, the 30-year-old striker has consistently stated that he is extremely happy with Real Madrid and wants to end his career there. However, in an interview with the Associated Press (USA) on December 10th, Ronaldo unexpectedly declared that he is keeping his future open.

“Everything is very open, in all competitions. There are things you can’t imagine, like me playing for rivals Barcelona or some club in England other than Man United. But things are very complicated and nothing is 100% certain. In football, anything can happen. It’s possible I will end my career at Bernabeu, but honestly, I don’t know what will happen tomorrow,” the three-time Ballon d’Or winner affirmed.

Previously, manager Louis Van Gaal had stated he would do everything possible to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, and in this same interview, the Portuguese star admitted he only wanted to focus on the present.

Ronaldo added: “As a professional player, you can’t predict your future, so I just want to focus on what’s in front of me. Things are going well right now and I’m happy at Real Madrid. But in a few years I don’t know what I’ll be thinking. When my contract with the team is nearing its end, I will make a decision. It could be staying at Bernabeu or joining another club, or it could even be the end of my playing career. For me, this is perfectly normal. That’s why I don’t feel worried; I know that everything that begins will eventually end.”
