Pour the wine into the cups; whoever doesn't drink it all... gets shot.
Seeing nine boys tending buffaloes come to the hut to ask for water, Phiếu poured some liquor into cups, then pulled out a loaded gun and threatened, "If anyone doesn't drink it all, I'll shoot them."
The People's Court of Yen Bai province recently held a mobile trial for the murder case against defendant Lo Van Phieu (born in 1964, residing in Tu Le commune, Van Chan district, Yen Bai province).

According to the indictment, on June 12, 2016, the children Hoang Van Thao (born in 2000), Hoang Van Thich (born in 2003), Sam Muu Hoang (born in 2004), Hoang Van Loi (born in 2002), Hoang Thai Tam (born in 2004), Hoang Van Tuong (born in 2000), Lo Van Tam (born in 2004), Hoang Van Bao (born in 2004), and Sam Van Sui (born in 2003), all residing in Na Long village, Tu Le commune, Van Chan district, Yen Bai province, went to herd buffalo and entered Lo Van Phieu's hut to play and ask for water.
Here, Phiếu took a bottle of liquor, poured it into cups, and forced the children to drink it one by one. Phiếu also took out a loaded flintlock gun and threatened, "If anyone doesn't drink, I'll shoot them."
Out of fear, the children drank the entire contents of the bottle one by one. When it was Hoang Van Thao's turn, he only drank a little before going outside. Seeing this, Phieu pointed the gun at Thao from a distance of 1 meter and pulled the trigger.
Thao was shot in the chest and suffered serious injuries to her left arm, requiring emergency treatment at the hospital. Fortunately, her life is not in danger.
At the trial, considering the defendant Phieu's actions to be particularly serious, thuggish in nature, dangerous to society, and causing outrage in the local community, the prosecution's indictment of the defendant for murder was legally justified. Based on the above analysis and the prosecution's proposed sentence, the Panel of Judges of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Court sentenced the defendant Lo Van Phieu to 9 years of imprisonment.
