(Baonghean.vn) - Building standard gardens is a solution that contributes to improving the quality of new rural areas, because developing garden-based economy not only creates beautiful environmental landscapes but also increases income and improves the lives of local people.

Nghia Hoan is a locality in Tan Ky district.achieving new rural standardsSince 2019, in order to increase income and create a clean, green, and beautiful rural environment, the local authorities have promoted and encouraged people to register to build model gardens.

In 2021 alone, the locality had 4 household gardens that met the criteria to register for the model.

The garden of Mr. Nguyen Van Manh's family in Xuan Son hamlet, Nghia Hoan commune, covers an area of 1,200 square meters.2With this area, at the beginning of 2020, in accordance with the policies of the district and the commune regarding...building a standard gardenThe family registered and scientifically replanned the land, arranging for the planting of fruit trees.

To make the most of their resources and create a long-term income stream, the family intercropped various vegetables. After a well-planned renovation, their garden is clean, easy to maintain, and convenient to navigate, generating an annual income of 50 million VND.

Mr. Mạnh said:To create a standard garden, the family has implemented a comprehensive plan, installed an automatic irrigation system, and applied scientific and technological advancements to cultivation, resulting in significant economic benefits.

In 2021, the district faced numerous difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the movement to build model gardens for new rural areas continued to be enthusiastically supported by the people. With the coordinated guidance and support from the Party committees and authorities from the district to the commune level; the close cooperation between the Farmers' Association and relevant departments of the District People's Committee; and especially the determined efforts of the participating households, most of the participating gardens have achieved positive results.

Accordingly, household gardens have formed standard garden areas with a size of 1,000 square meters.2From then on, many projects were implemented with high quality, and the appearance of household gardens completely changed. Farmers have become bolder in investing, introducing scientific and technological advancements and new technologies into production.

This involves installing automatic irrigation systems across the fields, introducing high-yield, high-quality crop and livestock varieties, and designing each household garden based on available land and adhering strictly to the planning drawings, ensuring harmony between landscape and environment. Initially, this has yielded positive economic results, with each garden generating an average economic value of 50 to 100 million VND. Households also combine fish farming and livestock raising to increase their income.

According to the assessment by the Tan Ky District New Rural Garden Evaluation Council, in 2021, the entire district had 5 household gardens that met the criteria for standard gardens as prescribed, achieving 100% of the target set by the province.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Khuong, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district, said:"In 2021, the commune's Farmers' Association focused on successfully developing one model project. The Association provided 2 million VND to the family to plan access roads within their cultivated area and offered guidance on scientific and technical methods, resulting in effective implementation. To date, the family has completed 5 out of 5 criteria. In the future, we will continue to develop and expand this model."

We are currently focusing on developing a plan and roadmap for implementation for the entire period of 2021-2025, for households in the area who register through the commune's Farmers' Association, and for the commune's Farmers' Association to register with the district's Farmers' Association. Priority is given to communes striving to achieve the new rural development and advanced new rural development goals in 2022.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Tan Ky District

From spontaneous to planned, self-sufficient gardens to commercial gardens, from simple farmers to modern farmers embracing commodity production – these are the results of the model for building standard new rural gardens in Tan Ky.

This model will be further replicated throughout the area, forming groups of households, hamlets, and communes to implement a movement of "joining forces" and "competing" to improve and build standard gardens, aiming to increase income and create a vibrant landscape for each village.
