Shocking 20-0 football match results in a loss for a team.
AC Cuneo secured an incredible victory against Pro Piacenza, an opponent who could only field seven players.
The match took place in the latest round of Group A of the Italian Serie C (third division) on February 17th.
Due to a strike by the first team and coaching staff over unpaid wages since August 2018, Pro Piacenza had to field a team of only seven players. Six of these were young players. The remaining player was a physiotherapist who was brought in because a player forgot their ID card. Cirigliano, an 18-year-old player, had to register as both captain and coach.

Piacenza (in red and black shirts) had only seven players on the field when they took to the field against Cuneo. |
Trailing by four men, Pro Piacenza quickly fell behind by 16 goals in the first half. AC Cuneo added four more goals in the second half and secured an unprecedentedly emphatic victory. Hicham Kanis and Edoardo Defendi were the top scorers with six and five goals respectively.
Prior to the match against AC Cuneo, Pro Piacenza had already forfeited three other matches due to a lack of players (all resulting in 0-3 defeats). If this losing streak were to reach four matches, according to the Italian Football Federation's regulations, the team would automatically be relegated to the fourth division of Serie D.

"What happened in Cuneo is an insult to the sport and its founding principles. In this surreal situation, the Federation has a responsibility to enforce the rules, protect the passion of the fans and the prestige of the championship. What we unfortunately witnessed will be the final farce," affirmed the President of the Italian Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina.
Pro Piacenza currently remains last among the 20 teams in Group A of Serie C with eight points after 19 matches. The team has also been deducted eight points for violating the league's financial regulations.

Before their win against Pro Piacenza, AC Cuneo had scored 18 goals. Scoring an additional 20 goals gave AC Cuneo a goal difference of +14 and lifted them to 11th place with 29 points.
Following this incident, another Serie C team, Matera (Group C), was disqualified from the tournament for missing too many matches.
