Man chased and attacked with a knife over late payment of a 400,000 VND installment.
Because he was late in paying a 400,000 VND installment, Quyen was attacked by creditors who came to his house and slashed him and his brother, causing injuries.
On the afternoon of May 13th, the investigative police agency of District 10, Ho Chi Minh City, announced that they are temporarily detaining Duong Quoc Minh (29 years old) for investigation into the act of intentionally causing injury.
According to the District 10 Police, on April 8th, Minh lent Bui Xuan Quyen (33 years old, residing in District 10) 2 million VND in installments. According to the agreement, Quyen had to pay 100,000 VND per day for 24 days, totaling 2.4 million VND (with an interest of 400,000 VND).
Minh believed that after borrowing money, Quyen not only failed to repay it on time but also made defiant remarks, so he had to "deal with" Quyen as a warning.
At approximately 2 PM on May 11th, Minh borrowed two swords from Khang and invited Khang, Nguyen Minh Nhan (18 years old, residing in District 4), and a person named Dinh (whose identity is unknown) to go to Quyen's house to attack him as a warning. At 2:30 PM on May 11th, the group arrived at Quyen's house on Hoa Hung Street (Ward 12, District 10).

Minh took out a sword about 1.2 meters long and gave the other sword, about 60 centimeters long, to Nhân. Then, Minh, Nhân, and Đỉnh went into the house to find Quyền, while Khang was outside guarding the car. Seeing the group brandishing weapons, Quyền and his brother ran inside.
Minh and Nhân immediately rushed in and started slashing, Nhân striking Quyền in the back with a knife. When Quyền and Quỳnh (Quyền's brother) ran into the bathroom and closed the door, Minh and Nhân continued to chase after them, repeatedly slashing at the bathroom door with their knives.
Because Quynh didn't manage to pull her hand away in time when closing the door, Minh slashed her left hand with a knife. Upon receiving the report, the police of District 10 arrived at the scene to investigate the incident and took the two brothers, Quyen and his sibling, to the hospital for treatment.
Following an investigation, at 12 PM on May 12th, the Criminal Investigation Department of District 10 Police arrested Minh and Khang. At the police station, Minh and Khang confessed to attacking Quyen and Quynh, causing injuries. Quyen confirmed that he borrowed 2 million VND from Minh on an installment plan. Quyen had already repaid 2 million VND, but still owed 400,000 VND, which led to the conflict.
On May 12th, the Police Investigation Agency of District 10 took the two brothers, Quyen and Quyen, for injury assessment. On May 13th, the forensic center reported that Quynh's injuries were 16% and Quyen's were 6%.
The District 10 police are consolidating the case file to consider initiating criminal proceedings and indicting Minh and his accomplices for the crime of intentionally causing injury.
