Driving a car with an expired inspection certificate, the driver hastily pulled out a fake VTV reporter's ID card to beg traffic police to let him go.

The incident involving a driver whose car had an expired inspection certificate pulling out a fake VTV reporter's ID card to "excuse" Hanoi traffic police occurred at approximately 11:00 AM on August 27th, at the intersection of Tran Quoc Hoan and Pham Van Dong streets in Hanoi.

According to initial information, at approximately the time mentioned, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Cong Dung and Lieutenant Le Thanh Binh – Traffic Police Team No. 6, Hanoi City Police – were on duty at the Tran Quoc Hoan – Pham Van Dong intersection (Hanoi) when they spotted a car with license plate 29A-056.70, driven by Nguyen Trung Phuc (born 1969, residing in Hoai Duc, Hanoi), traveling from Mai Dich Bridge towards Thang Long Bridge (Hanoi), with a "C" emblem on the front, and requested it to stop.

Upon inspection, police discovered that the car's inspection certificate had expired. Notably, immediately after being stopped, the driver hastily pulled out a plastic press card bearing the name Nguyen Trung Phuc and the logo of Vietnam Television to "beg" the traffic police to let him go. However, verification revealed the press card was fake.

Lieutenant Nguyen Cong Dung, from Traffic Police Team No. 6, Hanoi City Police, stated: "The driver's violation was operating a vehicle with an expired inspection certificate. We have issued a citation, imposed an administrative fine of 2.5 million VND, impounded the vehicle for 7 days, and revoked the driver's license for 2 months."

The police proceeded to issue an administrative penalty notice and confiscated the fake VTV reporter's ID card for further investigation.

Regarding the press ID card, verification from Vietnam Television revealed it to be fake, so we have temporarily confiscated it.”

Authorities are continuing to investigate the matter.
