Many food and accommodation businesses in Sa Pa (Lao Cai) are currently providing free meals and lodging, ensuring the safety of tourists and local residents stranded in the area due to the effects of floods and heavy rain.

“On September 8th, after seeing news reports about landslides in many areas of Sa Pa due to heavy rain and flooding, and many roads leading to villages being submerged and making travel very difficult, I decided to contribute in some way to support local people and tourists who were unfortunately stranded here, so they could have safe accommodation,” shared Ms. Tran Lan, owner of Binh Lan Hotel (22B Thac Bac Street, Group 4, Phan Xi Phang Ward, Sa Pa).

Sharing with the reporter.VietNamNet"After posting the information on social media, Ms. Lan said that five locals and tourists who had no safe place to stay proactively contacted her family," she said.

Ms. Lan shared information on her personal page about offering free accommodation to locals and tourists stranded in Sa Pa due to floods.

Currently, this accommodation has 12 vacant rooms, with a capacity of approximately 40 people.

"We are ready to provide free food and accommodation for all tourists, locals, and business travelers working in Sa Pa who are stranded here. My family is also constantly on standby to help people find safe accommodation as soon as possible," added Ms. Lan.

Similarly, Mr. Thinh - the owner of Lito Hotel (Le Van Tam Street) - also shared information that he is ready to offer free accommodation to tourists and residents who are stranded in Sa Pa due to landslides caused by heavy rains and floods.

This hotel is currently providing accommodation and meals for a family from Nha Trang, two tourists from Thai Nguyen, and two drivers from Hai Duong.

"Many bus routes from provinces such as Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Hanoi, etc., have stopped operating due to landslides caused by storms, so drivers and tourists stranded in Sa Pa are being provided with completely free accommodation by hotels."

"I hope my small contribution can help support tourists emotionally, and I hope everything will return to normal soon, and everyone will be safe," he expressed.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, manager of Anh Tu Hotel on Thac Bac Street, also revealed that they have been providing free accommodation to some locals and tourists who lack safe housing. The hotel currently has about 24 rooms available.

According to our investigation, there are currently about 15-20 accommodation establishments in Sa Pa, ranging from small to large, offering free lodging to tourists and locals. Representatives from these establishments are not overly concerned about revenue and are willing to use all available rooms to accommodate guests for free during this time.

"September is usually the peak tourist season in Sa Pa because it coincides with the golden rice harvest season in Ta Van. But this year things are different. Now we just hope to be able to support people as much as possible, while waiting for the floods to pass," Lan explained.

Not only hotels, but many food service establishments in Sa Pa town are also ready to share free meals with locals and tourists who are stranded there during this time.

In addition, many travel agencies operating tours to Sa Pa have also agreed to refund all deposits to tourists.

“Tourists and locals stranded in Sa Pa due to the floods are provided with completely free accommodation at our hotel. In addition, we offer dryers and washing machines for guests who need them. Guests can also enjoy meals at our restaurant, using whatever is available,” shared Ms. Tran Lan Anh, owner of the Old Town Sa Pa Hotel and Restaurant (Cau May Street).

Due to the effects of Typhoon Yagi, many roads and spillways in Sa Pa are currently damaged, hindering traffic and posing safety risks.

The People's Committee of Lao Cai province also issued an urgent dispatch overnight, directing all levels and sectors to be on duty 24/7 to prevent and control floods and minimize damage.

A representative from the Lao Cai Department of Tourism added that the local authorities are closely monitoring and advising tourism service businesses to promptly inform tourists who have booked services in advance so that appropriate support can be provided.
