The crape myrtle trees along this street were planted by the Department of Science and Technology with funding to create a highlight for the city. 100 crape myrtle trees were planted along a 1km stretch starting in 2017, and have bloomed for two seasons now. Prior to this, the Department of Science and Technology launched a competition and mobilized social funding for the flower-lined street project. Mr. Tran Quoc Thanh, Director of the Nghe An Department of Science and Technology, said that the idea behind planting crape myrtle was to help alleviate the harsh summer heat of Vinh City with its purple blossoms.
