It is a mistake to default to drinking 2 liters of water/day.
Drinking 8 glasses of water equivalent to 2 liters/day is the default for everyone. However, that is not the ideal formula for good health.

"Drinking eight glasses of water a day has been touted as having amazing benefits, such as improving digestion, making your skin look younger, and making you feel healthier. However, people are misled because there is no scientific evidence to support this," said Aaron E. Carroll, professor of pediatrics and research assistant Dean Mentoring at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Professor Carroll said that many scientists previously recommended that humans need about 2 liters of water (equivalent to 8 glasses of water) per day.
However, they have pointed out that the amount of water provided to the body can be through food, vegetables and fruits, not simply drinking water.
However, many people assume that they must replenish water only through drinking, and "drinking 8 glasses of water" has unintentionally become a health secret for many people.
Many people even mistakenly believe that illness occurs due to not providing enough water for the body.
"You also don't need to worry too much about never feeling thirsty because the human body adjusts itself to signal the need to replenish water before actually becoming dehydrated," Professor Carroll affirmed.
According to Dr. Robert A. Huggins of the University of Connecticut, USA, each person has different needs for daily water intake.

Therefore, you must listen to your thirst first and consider it the best way to know when to drink more water. If your urine is yellow, drink 250 ml of water immediately to balance it. This depends on factors such as gender, external environment including temperature, humidity, weather, pollution, frequency of vigorous activity, diet and lifestyle will significantly affect the water absorption needs of each body.
Everyone knows that dehydration is dangerous for your health, but drinking too much water is also bad, according to a report published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
Agreeing with the American expert, Indian nutritionist Nupur Krishnan also said that lifestyle plays an important role in deciding the amount of water one should consume.
"If you are sedentary and work in an air-conditioned environment all day, without the opportunity for water to escape through sweat, you should drink at most 2 liters of water. If you drink too much, water will accumulate in the kidneys and cause edema. For people who do a lot of physical activity, drinking 3 liters of water per day is enough to ensure good health," said Mr. Krishnan.
Mr. Krishnan recommends that if you are lazy to drink water, you should refer to the following mandatory times of the day to drink water that are best for your health:
- 1 cup 30 minutes before breakfast
- 1 glass of water 30 minutes before lunch.
- 1 glass of water 1 hour after dinner and before bathing.
- 1 glass of water before going to bed.
