Salah won the African Player of the Year award in 2017.
Mohamed Salah has brilliantly won the African Player of the Year award for the first time in his career after outstanding performances at both club and international level for Egypt.
Overcoming strong contenders like Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Salah was honored to be named African Player of the Year in 2017.
Salah displayed exceptional form for Liverpool, contributing 17 goals in just 21 matches. At the national level, he helped Egypt reach the runner-up position at AFCON 2017 (African Cup of Nations).
Furthermore, Salah's brace against Congo in October propelled the Pharaohs' team through their first World Cup qualifying campaign since 1990. Salah received the most votes from current coaches and captains of African national teams.
Meanwhile, Aubameyang, despite scoring 31 goals in 32 games, hasn't received much recognition.
