Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Super thin and light folding product, top 200MP camera

On July 9, 2025, at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in New York, Samsung officially announced the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the latest generation in the foldable phone line.

With a groundbreaking thin and light design, larger screen, vastly improved camera, powerful performance and optimized software, the Z Fold 7 continues to strengthen Samsung's pioneering position in the foldable phone segment.

Ultra-thin, classy design

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is Samsung's thinnest and lightest foldable phone yet, weighing just 215g – lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra (218g). When folded, it is 8.9mm thin, and when opened, it is only 4.2mm, surpassing the S25 Ultra in terms of thinness.

Samsung has optimized the hinge structure, using new glass materials and Armor Aluminum frame, providing durability and a luxurious feel.

The square, masculine design inherited from the Z Fold6 continues to be perfected on the Z Fold 7, suitable for users who love strength and modernity. The device has four trendy color options: Navy Blue, Mint Blue, Metal Black and Metal Silver.

The improved waterdrop hinge helps reduce the crease on the main screen, although it doesn't completely blur the crease like some competitors like OPPO or Honor. However, the premium finish and smooth folding feel are still the strengths of the Z Fold 7.

Screen: Bigger, brighter, more durable

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an impressive upgraded display system. The 6.5-inch outer screen, FHD+ resolution (2520 x 1080), supports 120Hz refresh rate and 2600 nits maximum brightness, wider than the Z Fold6 (64.9mm vs. 59.9mm), providing a more comfortable typing and operating experience. The main inner screen is 8 inches, QHD+ resolution (2184 x 1968), also supports 120Hz and 2600 nits.

For added durability, Samsung uses next-generation Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) with Grade 4 Titanium mesh for the main display, combined with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for the cover display and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the back. These improvements ensure long-lasting durability and a sharp visual experience.

Peak performance, optimal battery life

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, the most powerful today, ensuring smooth handling of all tasks from multitasking to playing heavy graphics games. The device has 12GB/16GB RAM options and 256GB/512GB/1TB memory, meeting all storage needs.

The battery capacity remains the same at 4400mAh, but Samsung has optimized the hardware and software to improve battery life. A larger vapor chamber cooling system helps maintain stable performance. However, 25W fast charging is still a limitation compared to some competitors.

200MP Camera: A breakthrough in photography

For the first time, the Z Fold series has a powerful camera upgrade with the 200MP main sensor from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, providing outstanding photo quality. The rear camera cluster includes:

• 200MP main camera: Optical image stabilization (OIS), autofocus (AF), f/1.7 aperture.
• 10MP telephoto camera: 3x optical zoom, OIS, f/2.4 aperture.
• 12MP ultra-wide camera: AF, f/2.2 aperture.
• 10MP selfie camera: 2.6x quality improvement, 17.6% wider than Z Fold6.

The ProVisual Engine image processor optimizes dynamic range, color, and night shooting capabilities. Samsung has replaced the under-display camera with a traditional punch-hole design to ensure better image quality, although it may slightly affect the aesthetics of the main screen.

Software: One UI 8 optimized for large screens

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 runs One UI 8 based on Android 16, providing a smooth multitasking experience. Some of the notable AI features include:

• AI Photo Editing: Display original and edited photos simultaneously on the big screen.
• Optimized multitasking: Drag and drop content between apps easily.
• Audio Eraser: Remove background noise in recordings and calls.
• Circle to Search for games: Search game information right on the playing screen.
