This year's winter-spring crop season saw the province planting over 85,000 hectares of rice, 20,000 hectares of corn, and 15,000 hectares of peanuts. The demand for various types of fertilizers is nearly 100,000 tons, and for rice seeds nearly 800 tons.

Surveys conducted at agricultural cooperatives and agricultural supply businesses indicate that the supply of fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides for this production season is relatively abundant, and prices remain stable compared to previous seasons.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requests that localities restructure rice varieties for the Spring 2016 crop by gradually increasing the area of purebred and high-quality rice varieties. For corn varieties, each locality should select no more than 3 hybrid corn varieties and 2 glutinous corn varieties. Only varieties included in the list of varieties structured according to the Spring 2016 production organization plan of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development should be used.

In addition, localities should coordinate well with the Department of Industry and Trade to strengthen the management of the quality of inorganic fertilizers, seeds, and plant protection products, and strictly handle cases of supplying counterfeit or substandard products.
