Sanchez helped Arsenal secure a point away at PSG.
The Chilean striker's 78th-minute goal secured a 1-1 draw for Arsenal, after Edinson Cavani had scored in the very first minute.
PSG dominated for most of the match, but Arsenal unexpectedly equalized with their first shot of the game hitting the post. In injury time of the second half, Olivier Giroud and Marco Verratti both received red cards after an altercation.
Arsenal's trip to Parc des Princes was quickly dampened by a goal in the 42nd second scored by Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.
The situation originated from Marco Verratti's attacking move down the right wing to Serge Aurier. The Ivorian defender dribbled past Nacho Monreal and crossed the ball in for Cavani to cut across the Arsenal defenders and head the ball past goalkeeper David Ospina.
In the following minutes, the French champions continued to press their opponents. The most dangerous player for PSG was Angel Di Maria. In the 34th minute, Cavani missed a golden opportunity to increase the score to 2-0.
From Verratti's through ball, Monreal's diving save inadvertently left his teammate vulnerable. Ospina rushed out, but Cavani was quicker, dribbling past the goalkeeper and leaving the Uruguayan striker with only an empty net 16.5 meters away. However, due to a loss of balance, Cavani's shot went wide.
In the opening minutes of the second half, Arsenal somewhat regained control of the game. They had more possession but still failed to create any dangerous attacks. In the 58th minute, PSG regained the initiative. Defender Aurier raced down to receive a pass from Di Maria, but his shot from a tight angle was unsuccessful. Nine minutes later, Aurier and Di Maria combined again with a one-two pass on the right wing, forcing Ospina to rush out to make a save.

In the 69th minute, Adrien Rabiot's determined dribble caused chaos among the Arsenal defenders. Cavani seized the opportunity, stole the ball, and faced Ospina, but the Colombian goalkeeper once again won the three-way duel. Immediately afterwards, a misplaced clearance by Ospina nearly cost Arsenal dearly. Fortunately for them, Ospina redeemed himself with a diving save to deny Di Maria's shot.
In the 78th minute, Arsenal unexpectedly equalized. Mesut Ozil provided a perfect pass, giving Alex Iwobi the opportunity to unleash a volley inside the penalty area. PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola pushed the ball away. However, Areola could do nothing against Alexis Sanchez's powerful volley. Iwobi's shot was Arsenal's first shot on target of the match.
In the 80th minute, Ospina once again saved Arsenal, rushing out to block Cavani's speedy run. In the 83rd minute, Arsenal had a chance to score their second goal. From a four-on-four counter-attack, Sanchez passed the ball to Iwobi. The Nigerian striker curled a right-footed shot towards the far corner, but Areola made an excellent save.

In the remaining minutes of the match, not many dangerous situations were created. The most notable moment occurred in the third minute of added time in the second half, when Olivier Giroud and Marco Verratti both received second yellow cards after a collision. The Arsenal striker was at fault, as he fouled Verratti after the midfielder passed the ball, but the referee decided to send both players off.
One positive aspect of this match was the successful result for Arsenal after being pressured by the home team throughout the game. Goalkeeper Ospina's outstanding performance prevented the English side from conceding several goals before Sanchez scored the crucial winning goal. In the other Group A match, Basel drew 1-1 at home against Ludogorets Razgrad.
