PhDIgor Ashurbeyli, nproject lead scientistAsgardia announced that the first satellite in the satellite system constituting the "space nation" will be launched into orbit in August 2017, according to New Atlas.
Asgardia is an ambitious project, originating from the idea of building a satellite system in Earth orbit large enough to house millions of people. The project hasattract on200,000 people registered, of which17% are female.
"Last year in Paris, when we launched Asgardia, many people doubted whether we would ever put anything into space," Dr.Ashurbeylispeakat the press conference on June 12. "But today I can confidently announce that we will launch a satelliteAsgardia-1"to space".
