(Baonghean.vn) - Vo Van Hai has four previous convictions for theft and destruction of important national security infrastructure and facilities, serving a 16-year prison sentence. However, that punishment is not enough to make him repent and rebuild his life.

On March 29th, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Nghi Loc District Police announced that it had issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspect, and order the temporary detention of Vo Van Hai (born in 1971), residing in Thai Thinh hamlet, Nghi Thai commune, Nghi Loc district, for the crime of theft.

Earlier, on the morning of March 22nd, the Phuc Tho Commune Police received a report from Mr. Hoang Van Thanh, residing in Hamlet 4, Phuc Tho Commune, stating that during the night and early morning of the same day, thieves broke into his carpentry workshop and stole property including 2 wooden headboards, 2 pieces of mahogany wood, 1 piece of patterned mahogany wood, and 2 wood cutting machines.

After receiving the report, the Phuc Tho commune police, in coordination with the Nghi Loc police, conducted a search at carpentry workshops in the area and surrounding regions.

On March 23, the task force discovered two headboards and two pieces of mahogany wood at a family's carpentry workshop in Hamlet 14, Nghi Phong Commune, matching Mr. Thanh's reported theft.

After verification, the task force summoned Luong Van Duong (born in 1962), residing in Hamlet 14, Nghi Phong Commune, who had brought these items to the carpentry workshop to be finished into beds.

Duong Khai purchased these headboards and wooden planks from Vo Van Hai, residing in Thai Thinh hamlet, Nghi Thai commune. The police summoned Hai, but he had fled. On March 24th, after persuasion, Vo Van Hai surrendered to the Nghi Loc District Police.

At the police station, Vo Van Hai confessed to his crime. According to his confession, in the early morning of March 22nd, he walked from his house to Hoang Van Thanh's carpentry workshop and broke in. There, he found two carved wooden headboards, two pieces of mahogany, one piece of teak wood for making bed frames, and two wood cutting machines.

Taking advantage of the homeowner's negligence, the suspect stole all of the property, totaling 11.5 million VND, and hid it at his home.

On the same day, March 22nd, Hai called Luong Van Duong to come and sell the stolen property. Duong then invited Truong Xuan Nghia (born in 1971), also residing in Hamlet 14, Nghi Phong Commune, to Hai's house.

Here, Duong bought a set of bedding, and Nghia bought two wood-cutting machines. After purchasing them, on March 23rd, Duong took the headboard and bed frame to a carpentry workshop in Hamlet 14, Nghi Phong Commune, to have the bed finished, but he was discovered by the police.

Currently, the incident is still under investigation by the authorities.
