After 16 years in prison, 'the horse is still familiar with the old road'

(Baonghean.vn) - Vo Van Hai has 4 previous convictions for theft of property and destruction of important national security facilities and vehicles, and was sentenced to 16 years in prison. However, that sentence was not enough for the subject to repent and start a new life.

On March 29, the Nghi Loc District Police Investigation Agency announced that the unit had decided to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and issue an order to detain Vo Van Hai (born in 1971), residing in Thai Thinh hamlet, Nghi Thai commune, Nghi Loc district, for the act of property theft.

Previously, on the morning of March 22, the Phuc Tho Commune Police Department received a report from Mr. Hoang Van Thanh, residing in Hamlet 4, Phuc Tho Commune, stating that at night and early morning of the same day, a thief broke into Mr. Thanh's carpentry workshop and stole property including 2 wooden bed heads, 2 rosewood panels, 1 rosewood panel, and 2 wood cutting machines.

After receiving the report, Phuc Tho Commune Police coordinated with Nghi Loc Police to search carpentry workshops in the area and surrounding areas.

On March 23, the working group discovered at the carpentry workshop of a family in hamlet 14, Nghi Phong commune, 2 headboards and 2 pieces of rosewood as Mr. Thanh had reported missing.

After verification, the working group summoned Luong Van Duong (born in 1962), residing in hamlet 14, Nghi Phong commune, who brought the property to the carpentry workshop to complete the bed.

Duong confessed that he bought the headboards and the wooden panels from Vo Van Hai, who lives in Thai Thinh hamlet, Nghi Thai commune. The police summoned Hai but he had already fled. On March 24, after persuasion, Vo Van Hai surrendered to Nghi Loc district police.

At the investigation agency, Vo Van Hai confessed his crime. Accordingly, in the early morning of March 22, the subject walked from his house to Mr. Hoang Van Thanh's carpentry workshop and broke into the carpentry workshop. Hai saw 02 carved wooden headboards, 02 rosewood panels, 01 rosewood panel to make bed frames along with 02 wood cutting machines.

Taking advantage of the homeowner's carelessness, the subject took all of this property, totaling 11.5 million VND, and brought it home to hide.

On the same day, March 22, Hai called Luong Van Duong to come and sell the stolen property. Duong invited Truong Xuan Nghia (born in 1971), also residing in Hamlet 14, Nghi Phong Commune, to come to Hai's house.

Here, Duong bought a set of bedding, Nghia bought two wood cutting machines. After buying, on March 23, Duong took the headboard and bed code to a carpentry workshop in hamlet 14, Nghi Phong commune to complete the bed, but was discovered by the police.

Currently, the case is being further investigated by the authorities./.
