According to a survey conducted by the Nghe An Maritime Port Authority on the morning of July 18th, there are currently four ships stranded: Thai Ha 88 and Thai Ha 26, both stranded in Cua Lo; and Viet Dung 36 and Minh Khanh 09, stranded along the Lam River.
On the morning of July 18th, during a meeting with the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue and the Nghe An Maritime Port Authority, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Sang - Director of the Maritime Department - requested that the units direct surveys and assessments of the current status of the stranded ships.
Based on that, measures are taken to ensure the safety of the crew members, while simultaneously assessing the risk of oil spills on each stranded vessel. This allows for the development of rescue plans for the ships.
The leaders of Nghe An province also requested that, after surveying and assessing the current situation and after carrying out the rescue operation for the stranded ship, a plan for land reclamation on the seabed should be implemented effectively, especially at the location where the Thai Ha 26 ship is stranded in the Cua Lo beach area, to ensure the safety of tourists swimming in the sea.
The Nghe An Maritime Authority is continuing to investigate ships that have run aground in the province.
