Authorities have sealed off the scene of the fire.

The fire occurred at approximately 11:30 AM on January 16th on the second floor of the Saigon Furniture store at 913 De La Thanh Street, Hanoi. According to local residents, the initial cause was sparks from welding work in the neighboring building igniting the advertising sign.

The fire was quite large, but luckily, the weather calmed down around noon on January 16th, and the fire department arrived promptly to handle the situation, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby shops and houses.

Currently, the scene has been cordoned off, traffic on De La Thanh Street has returned to normal, and authorities are urgently investigating the cause.

Previously, on November 1, 2016, a fire caused by welding occurred at a karaoke bar on Tran Thai Tong Street, resulting in 13 deaths.

The cause was a welder (without qualifications or certification) hired to work on the second floor. While cutting door hinges, sparks and welding slag fell onto the floor and walls, causing the fire.

On November 12, 2016, the Investigation Police Department of Hanoi City Police issued a decision to prosecute three individuals for violating fire safety regulations.
