According to the German leader, Berlin will act in a way that avoids further escalating the conflict.
"President Joe Biden has made this issue clear: he said he would not supply weapons that would be used to fire into Russian territory. I believe all other countries must adhere to this principle. We are not acting alone and will always guide what our allies are doing," Scholz said.
Earlier, Scholz said that Germany would continue to supply weapons to Ukraine and reiterated the government's previously announced decision to transfer Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, howitzers, and Iris-T air defense systems equipped with special radar systems to Kyiv. According to German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, the transfer of Iris-T systems will take place in the coming weeks.
