5,000 more cameras will be installed on highways and national highways.
According to the Traffic Police Department, the unit will coordinate with local police to install more than 5,000 cameras on highways, national highways and urban areas.
On September 15, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (C08, Ministry of Public Security) said that through data extraction from a new camera installed on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway (from 7:00 p.m. on September 1 to 0:00 a.m. on September 13), the Traffic Command Center recorded more than 67,600 traffic trips, of which more than 2,000 violations were detected, accounting for 2.96%.

Of these, the error of not wearing a seat belt accounted for the majority with 1,813 cases (90.46%); using a phone while driving had 28 cases (1.41%); the rest were other errors with 743 cases.
Notably, there were 1,261 cases of transport business drivers violating the law, accounting for 62.93% of the total of more than 2,000 violations.
A representative of the Traffic Police Department said that in the beginning after the installation of the cameras, the number of violations was still high. However, after being widely publicized and informed about the handling of traffic safety violations, the violations have gradually decreased.
In the coming time, the Traffic Police Department will coordinate with functional units and local police to install more than 5,000 more cameras on highways, national highways and urban areas.
