All wastewater currently flowing into the drainage ditch around the citadel is collected through a manhole system and channeled into the main sewer line, leading to the Cua Nam Lake drainage pumping station.

The project will be completed in the first quarter of 2017 with the following main items: Dredging, construction of retaining walls along both banks of the canal, construction of a main sewer line to collect wastewater, construction of new canals inside and outside the Citadel, and construction of 6 discharge gates and 6 manholes to separate wastewater.

To separate domestic wastewater from surrounding residential areas from flowing into the canal around the Ancient Citadel, a series of main sewers with diameters ranging from DN300 to DN800 were constructed along the length of the canal to collect wastewater and transport it to a newly built wastewater pumping station with a capacity of 3,100 m³.3Day and night at Cua Nam Lake.

A new drainage ditch will be constructed inside the ancient citadel to collect wastewater from households and rainwater along the walking path. At the discharge points of this ditch, wastewater separation wells will be built to channel the wastewater into the outer sewer system.

After the project is completed, the moat, combined with the Vinh Ancient Citadel gate, will become an attractive tourist destination.

The project also involves constructing a new drainage ditch outside the ancient citadel to collect wastewater from residential households and rainwater along the walking path. At the discharge points of this ditch, wastewater separation wells will be built to channel the wastewater into the main sewer line at the nearest manhole.
