According to Bloomberg, Bezos's net worth, at 53, increased by $1.5 billion on March 29th, thanks to a sharp rise in Amazon's stock price after the company announced plans to acquire Dubai-based online retailer Souq.com.

Data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index shows that Bezos currently owns a net worth of $75.6 billion, $700 million more than Buffett, the founder of Berkshire Hathaway, and $1.3 billion more than Ortega, the owner of Zara and the richest person in Europe.

Since the beginning of the year, Bezos's net worth has increased by $10.2 billion. If calculated from the time Donald Trump was elected President of the United States on November 8th last year, Bezos's wealth has increased by $7 billion.

This increase in wealth for the American online retail billionaire is only surpassed by the $18.4 billion increase in wealth of Chinese delivery tycoon Wang Wei, and the $11.4 billion increase in wealth of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

For Buffett, his net worth has increased by $1.7 billion year-to-date. After peaking at $79.6 billion on March 1st, Buffett's net worth has decreased by $4.7 billion.

Ortega's net worth has increased by $2.1 billion since the beginning of the year.

Bezos is currently $10.4 billion less wealthy than billionaire Bill Gates. The Microsoft co-founder is currently the world's richest person, with a net worth of $86 billion.
