SHB Da Nang came from behind to defeat SLNA but still had to play play-off
On the afternoon of June 22, at Tam Ky Stadium, SHB Da Nang had a dramatic comeback to win 2-1 against Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) in round 26 of V.League 2024/2025. However, this result was not enough to help the Han River team stay in the league, forcing them to enter the play-off match.

Previously, the surprising victory against HAGL in round 25 helpedLam River Nghe Anearly to secure the right to stay in the league, making the final match against SHB Da Nang "lighter" than expected. When the goal was completed, it was understandable that the Nghe An team did not field their strongest squad, especially when they still had an important National Cup semi-final match against Becamex Binh Duong waiting ahead.
On the contrary, SHB Da Nang entered the match with great determination. If they won all 3 points and Quang Nam lost at HAGL, they would stay in the league without having to play a play-off. Coach Le Huynh Duc and his team quickly pushed up their squad after the opening whistle.
In the 3rd minute, Van Long almost opened the score with a header from a tight angle, but SLNA's young goalkeeper Van Binh made a miraculous save. Just 4 minutes later, Van Binh continued his impressive form when he blocked Dinh Duy's penalty kick after Khac Luong let the ball touch his hand in the penalty area.
Throughout the first half, Da Nang completely dominated the game, creating a series of dangerous opportunities but could not materialize into goals. SLNA mainly played defensively and only had one notable counterattack in the 29th minute, when Olaha accelerated to receive a long pass from Quang Tu, but his shot went over the bar.
The first half ended with a score of 0-0, although the home team was superior in terms of game position and opportunities.
In the second half, Da Nang's pressure increased. In less than 30 minutes, they hit the crossbar and the post 4 times. Van Hung, Cong Nhat, and the orange strikers tried their luck but all failed. The climax was in the 58th minute, when the home player's powerful shot hit goalkeeper Van Binh's hand and bounced off the crossbar.

While the audience was still regretting the missed shots, the home team suddenly conceded a goal. In the 65th minute, Xuan Dai escaped down the left wing, crossed for Kuku to tap the ball into the net to open the score for SLNA.
In the context of being behind, the pressure was heavy on the shoulders of Da Nang players. However, they rose up strongly in the final minutes. In the 80th minute, from a set piece situation on the left wing, SLNA defender in an attempt to clear the ball accidentally headed the ball into his own net, giving the home team Tam Ky a free equalizer.
Less than 5 minutes later, Minh Quang rushed down and decisively finished with his left foot from a narrow angle, sealing a dramatic 2-1 victory for SHB Da Nang.
Despite winning all 3 points and ending the season with 25 points, SHB Da Nang is still 1 point behind Quang Nam, accepting 13th place overall. They will have to enter a crucial play-off match with Binh Phuoc Club - the second-placed team in the First Division, to secure a spot in the V.League next season.
Meanwhile, Binh Dinh Club officially had to play in the First Division, after finishing at the bottom of the table with only 23 points.
