'Shipper' of ecstasy across continents
(Baonghean.vn) - Thuong was asked by a friend in Germany to sell drugs and accepted the payment. The ecstasy pills were later discovered by the police, although they were disguised in functional food medicine boxes.
On September 23, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Nguyen Vinh Thuong (born 1996), residing in Vien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking”.
This is the second time Nguyen Vinh Thuong has appeared in court. In 2018, Thuong was sentenced to 12 months in prison for illegal possession of drugs. After being released from prison for a while, Thuong got involved in drugs again.

Accordingly, around February 2021, Thuong was contacted by a friend from the same hometown named Vu Danh Dung, who was working in Germany, via Facebook saying he had ecstasy and asked him to find a buyer.
A few days later, a person with the Facebook name “Trinh pro tu be” contacted Thuong to ask to buy 1,000 ecstasy pills. Therefore, Thuong connected with Dung so that the two sides could exchange with each other.
On March 12, after agreeing on the drug deal with the buyer, Dung contacted and instructed Thuong to go to the abandoned house area to get a black plastic bag containing ecstasy. Then, Dung told Thuong to deliver it to the customer and receive the money. When the job was done, Dung would pay Thuong 2 million VND for the job. Thuong agreed.
At around 7:00 a.m. on March 13, while Nguyen Vinh Thuong was holding ecstasy pills in functional food boxes waiting for customers to pick them up, he was arrested by Yen Thanh District Police and more than 500 grams of drugs were seized.
At the trial, although defendant Thuong only admitted to illegally storing drugs, the panel of judges determined that based on the collected documents and evidence, there was enough evidence to confirm that the defendant committed the crime of illegally buying and selling drugs.
Considering the case as a whole, the People's Court sentenced defendant Nguyen Vinh Thuong to 20 years in prison for "Illegal drug trafficking".
Regarding the man named Dung, the investigation agency verified that this subject is working in Germany and has not yet returned to his hometown.
The investigation agency also sent a document requesting Department A05 of the Ministry of Public Security to provide information about the account named “Trinh pro tu be” but there is currently no result. Therefore, there is no basis for verification and clarification for handling.
