Farmers cry because of a good tomato crop...
(Baonghean.vn) - After the Lunar New Year, many households in Quynh Luu district suffered losses due to a bumper tomato crop. Traders bought in moderation at low prices, forcing people to pick some to feed their animals or even throw them away.
According to Mr. Tran An Khang - Director of Big C Vinh Supermarket, right after reading the news from Nghe An Electronic Newspaper, he and some Big C officials went to the tomato growing areas in Quynh Luu and saw that the situation was exactly as reported in the newspaper. From there, this unit decided to "rescue" tomatoes to help farmers. Right on the first trip, the supermarket bought 2.5 tons, on March 12 it will buy 11 tons and send them to the system's supermarkets in Hue, Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Hanoi...

According to Mr. Khang, “Big C is responsible for sending staff to check the quality, sample analysis costs, sending a team to join the harvest with the people, and covering the costs incurred in transportation and business. The purchase price at the field as requested by the farmers is 2,000 VND/kg + 500 VND for the cost of people transporting to the gathering place to be packed and loaded onto the supermarket truck.”

In the immediate future, this unit will focus on purchasing in Quynh Thanh commune (Quynh Luu) and has the ability to expand purchasing in other localities if support is needed.
