Chinese electric 'supercar' priced at $5,500

A 26-year-old man owns a mass-produced Pagani Huayra supercar with power ranging from 4 to 10 horsepower.

Allegedly the most beautiful electric car in China, the creation of Liu Shengqi, a young man from Jilin province, is named "Supercar" and belongs to the low-speed electric vehicle category, intended for city use only, according to Carnewschina.

This supercar uses an electric motor and has a starting price of $5,500.

The Supercar's design is borrowed from the Italian supercar Pagani Huayra. However, this two-seater electric car has neither a trunk nor a roof. The rear features six exhaust pipes, but they are all fake. Customers can choose between red, white, or a two-tone red-white color scheme.

Liu Shengqi once dreamed of designing a sports car for young people, and the Supercar was what he could achieve. Shengqi spent seven months completing the first prototype. When he ran out of funds, the designer even used his $7,200 wedding gift money to continue pursuing his dream. He even traveled to Shandong to persuade a company to produce the Supercar.

Currently, the Supercar is being offered for sale at least four stores on Taobao, a popular Chinese online shopping website. The standard version has 4 horsepower, a top speed of 40 km/h, and a range of 80 km per charge. The higher-end version has 10 horsepower, a top speed of 60 km/h, and a range of 100 km per charge. Prices start from $5,500.

The supercar has a fiberglass body and weighs around 200 kg. The interior design is very basic, with a plastic dashboard, a steering wheel (without airbags), and a small touchscreen.
