The supercar uses an electric motor and has a starting price of $5,500. |
The design of the Supercar is borrowed from the Italian supercar Pagani Huayra. However, the 2-seater electric car has neither a trunk nor a roof. The rear of the car has 6 exhaust pipes, but they are all fake. Customers can choose the car in red, white or 2-tone red-white.
Liu Shengqi once dreamed of designing a sports car for young people, and the Supercar was what he could do. It took Shengqi 7 months to complete the first prototype. When the funding ran out, the designer used the $7,200 he received from his wedding to continue pursuing his dream. He even traveled to Shandong to convince a company to produce the Supercar.
The Supercar is currently being sold in at least four stores on Taobao, a popular Chinese online shopping website. The standard version has 4 horsepower, a top speed of 40 km/h and a range of 80 km per charge. The higher-end version has 10 horsepower, a top speed of 60 km/h and a range of 100 km/h per charge. Prices start at $5,500.
The supercar has a fiberglass body and weighs around 200 kg. The interior design is the most basic with a plastic dashboard, a steering wheel (no airbags) and a small touch screen.
