She gave birth using frozen sperm from her deceased husband.

Pei Xia Chen (USA) froze the sperm of her husband, a police officer who died in the line of duty, and two years later gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

On July 25th, more than two years after her husband's death, Pei Xia Chen gave birth to Angelina at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. In a photo shared on social media, Angelina is wearing a blue hat with the letters NYPD (New York Police Department) on it, in memory of her late father.

According to the Washington Post, Wenjian Liu, Chen's husband, was murdered in his patrol car with a colleague in December 2014. He was only 32 years old at the time and had just gotten married. Liu was also the first Asian American police officer to die while on duty.

At Liu's funeral, Chen wept incessantly, clutching her husband's portrait. In front of thousands of mourners, the widow choked back tears, saying, "I believe he is still here with us."

Hoping to one day have a child with Liu, Chen asked the hospital to preserve her husband's sperm from the night he passed away. She kept her intention a secret from Liu's family, fearing that failure would break their hearts. Ultimately, Chen's dream came true.

Upon hearing the news, Liu's family immediately rushed to the hospital to visit their daughter-in-law and grandchild. When they arrived, they hugged the baby tightly and couldn't hold back their tears. "The past three years have been incredibly difficult," said Xiu Yan Li, Liu's mother. "This is truly the best thing that has ever happened to us."

Speaking to the New York Daily News, Xiu Yan Li described Angelina as "very much like her mother" but "having her father's eyes and forehead." "I see Liu in my granddaughter," she said happily.

The family will take Angelina to visit her father's grave to tell Liu that he has a daughter. When she's old enough, Chen will tell her about her heroic father and introduce her to the New York Police Department, which Liu has always considered his family.
