(Baonghean.vn) - Today's market news: Expensive Chinese "immortal peaches" still attract customers; Smartphone prices drop sharply; Rice prices increase by 100-200 VND/kg; meanwhile, domestic coffee prices remain unchanged...

Despite its high price, the "immortal peach" from China continues to attract customers.

At this time of year, not only grapes, apples, and melons, but also various types of Chinese peaches are flooding Vietnamese markets. Accordingly, smooth-skinned peaches with yellow and green flesh are priced from 7,000-12,000 VND/kg depending on the variety, fuzzy peaches are 20,000 VND/kg; and crow's beak peaches and honey peaches are priced from 30,000-55,000 VND/kg.

However, in addition to the cheaper varieties, the market also features extremely expensive Chinese "immortal peaches." These peaches are advertised as VIP products, with reddish-pink skin, a crisp and sweet taste, and weighing between 350-400 grams per fruit.

Even a single peach, priced between 55,000 and 70,000 VND, is still in high demand.

"Immortal peaches" are sold in boxes of 9, weighing over 3kg, for 500,000-600,000 VND per box. This translates to a price of 165,000-200,000 VND per kg, equivalent to 55,000 to nearly 70,000 VND per fruit. This price is considered extremely expensive compared to other Chinese fruits. Despite the high price, customers still have to queue to eat these "immortal peaches." (See more)

Smartphones are being heavily discounted.

The second quarter is considered the lowest point of the year for the mobile market. Therefore, retailers are doing everything they can to boost sales and attract customers. According to Market Life, a tactic many dealers are employing is a "price war."

Smartphones ranging from mid-range to high-end are seeing significant price reductions. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has been discounted by 8.5 million VND, now starting at 7 million VND. Both high-end smartphones, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Z Flip4, have seen price cuts of over 10 million VND, now costing 13.1 million VND and 13 million VND respectively.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max also saw a price reduction from its listed price of 34 million VND for the 128GB version to 26.4 million VND, a decrease of 7.6 million VND. During this period, the OPPO Reno 7 Pro also received a 7.8 million VND discount, bringing its price down to 11.2 million VND.

Domestic coffee prices remain unchanged.

Coffee prices in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces stand at 64,400 VND/kg.

Coffee prices in Dak Lak province today saw a slight increase of 100 VND/kg. In Cu M'gar district, the price is currently 64,500 VND/kg. In Ea H'leo district and Buon Ho town, the purchase price remains at 64,600 VND/kg.

In Dak Nong province, coffee is being purchased at the highest price of 64,800 VND/kg, a slight increase of 100 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Compared to last week, coffee prices have decreased by 1,400 – 1,500 VND/kg, depending on the locality. In June 2023, the average domestic coffee price was nearly 64,700 VND/ton, an increase of nearly 8,300 VND/kg compared to May.

According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam's coffee exports in June were estimated at 150,000 tons, worth $392 million, an increase of 9.1% in volume and 24.3% in value compared to the same period in 2022. This brings the total coffee exports in the first half of 2023 to an estimated 1.02 million tons, worth $2.40 billion, a decrease of 2.2% in volume but an increase of 3% in value.

According to experts, the sluggish spot market has negatively impacted world coffee prices, while selling pressure from the new crop currently being harvested in Brazil is causing buyers to shift to longer delivery months due to the significant price difference between these terms and spot prices.
